Home brings the hours after it rains. It’s a hike in the mountains amid the misty morning air, walking amongst the moss-covered trees. When the sky opens up and drenches the earth, you’re outside with open arms. Home evokes nostalgia, making you take a deep inhale of everywhere you’ve been and hope to go. It’s the coming and going of familiarity within a home, feeling attached to two places at once. It’s standing on the border of the state you’re from and the state the love of your life is from, in a place you’ve only been in together. It’s where I’m with you. 

The Home:

For the Lavender Simple syrup:

1 Cup of water

1 Cup granulated sugar

3 T dried lavender

Bring water to a boil, add sugar, once clear turn off heat. Muddle lavender in a separate bowl and add to simple syrup. Let steep until cool. 

For Cocktail:

2 oz whiskey bourbon

1/2 oz of lavender infused simple syrup 

2 dashes angostura bitters

Pour all ingredients into a yari mixing glass, add ice and stir for 30 seconds. Strain into new glass over rocks. Garnish with lavender
